The family law firm, Vardags, has launched a law essay competition open to all university students across the UK, aiming to discover exceptional young legal minds in the country.
The winner of this competition will receive a £2,000 prize, along with an exclusive one-on-one session with Vardags’ founder and president, Ayesha Vardag.
Additionally, substantial prizes of £1,000 and £500 await the 2nd and 3rd place winners respectively.
The top 5 entries will also get a unique advantage: they will be fast-tracked to interviews for Vardags’ Graduate Trainee recruitment process, offering them a significant career opportunity. Furthermore, the best essays will be featured on the Vardags website, providing valuable exposure to the winners, a press release from Vardags said.
Vardags, recognised as a leading family law firm specialising in high net worth and international complex cases, is under the leadership of Ayesha Vardag, widely renowned as “Britain’s top divorce lawyer.”
Ayesha emphasised the importance of infusing fresh creativity and energy into the legal profession. She stressed the need for individuals with brilliant minds and innovative thinking, unencumbered by rigid preconceptions.
To foster this spirit, the firm trains its own graduates right from their entry into the professional world. Ayesha encourages these budding legal minds to bring forth their ideas and challenges, inspiring them to reinvent established methods.
She said this approach aims to equip the vibrant minds of today with in-depth knowledge of existing legal systems, tactics, and rules, allowing them to critically evaluate and challenge outdated practices.
According to Ayesha, this constant evolution is vital, akin to oxygen, to prevent complacency within the legal profession.
To participate, applicants are required to write an essay of no more than 3,000 words on a contemporary topic related to family law in England and Wales. The deadline for essay submissions is January 31, 2024, through the Vardags website.
The winners will be announced at the end of February. Detailed submission criteria and terms and conditions are available on the Vardags website.
Ayesha said, “Give us the raw material, the brilliant mind, and we will give you the tools and infrastructure to make you a leader of the field. And with that, the capacity to make real change in our society.”
All entries meeting the submission criteria and demonstrating exceptional quality will be showcased on Vardags’ website, with due credit to the respective authors.
Successful participants will also get the opportunity to share and showcase their work on social media platforms and incorporate it into their CVs and future applications to Vardags.
